The Stork Ibis and Spoonbill Specialist Group at 4th IUCN SSC Leaders’ Meeting 2019

Eleven years after the first International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Species Survival Commission (SCC) Leaders’ Meeting held in Al Ain in 2008, the leadership of the IUCN and SSC will meet again from 6 to 9 October in Abu Dhabi to discuss the functioning, growth and integration of species conservation work. You can find the press release here.

The IUCN SSC Stork, Ibis and Spoonbill Specialist Group will be represented by Gopi Sundar and Luis Santiago Cano as co-chairs of this Specialist Group. They have prepared a poster presentation where it will be displayed during the meeting where we will show the main activities done during 2016-2019 as well as the main activities and challenges in the near future. The poster can be downloaded on the bottom of this news.

Our Specialist Group will attend also the plenary and parallel sessions and different discussions, trainings and symposia discussions with high relevance for this Specialist Group.

We hope to increase the position of the Stork Ibis and Spoonbill Specialist Group within the IUCN Survival Species Commission, to spread out the network, to look for opportunities to bring to the Specialist members to develop different activities (workshops, publications, researches, grant opportunities, species actions plans, conferences).

If you have any concrete query or you want to suggest anything to the co-chairs, please do  not hesitate to contact them at email of  the SG at storkibisspoonbill@gmail.com
