Amanda was awarded her PhD in Anthropology from Oxford Brookes University, UK and her thesis focused on human-wildlife interactions in northwest Uganda. Since 2013 she has worked for Bristol Zoological Society as a Lecturer in Conservation Science and her research interests are human-wildlife coexistence, perceptions of ‘problem’ animals and wildlife conservation. Amanda is currently working with a Malagasy NGO (Mikajy Natiora Association) to develop a long term conservation plan for the Madagascar sacred ibis (Threskiornis bernieri) in the Sahamalaza region.
