Savas Kazantzidis

I am a researcher and since 2001 I have been working at the laboratory of Wildlife Management of the Forest Research Institute (www.fri.gr).

I have a degree in biology and I obtained my Ph.D. (regarding breeding ecology of the Little Egret Egretta garzetta) in 1997.

My research interests are focused on herons, cormorants, Glossy Ibises and on wintering waterfowl. I am also a bird ringer ringing mostly forest passerine birds.

I participated in the coordination of the National Action Plans of the Lesser White-fronted Goose Anser erythropus and the Pygmy Cormorant Phalacrocorax pygmaeus in Greece.

Since 2013, I have been engaging with the management of Kerkini Lake National Park (www.kerkini.gr) as member of the Board of Directors and, since 2017, as President.
