I have worked on colonially breeding waterbirds for the past 16 years, focusing primarily on reproductive success in relation to water management practices. I work closely with government agencies providing advice for water management to achieve positive waterbird outcomes. I also use stable isotopes and elemental analyses to study waterbird diets and differences between wetlands. I am currently leading a project creating a Feather Map of Australia. This uses nuclear science techniques to track the movements of waterbirds around Australia and between wetland sites. It involves a large, national citizen science project asking members of the public to contribute waterbird feathers to the project for analyses.
I am based in Sydney at the Centre for Ecosystem Science, University of New South Wales.
